I haven’t mentioned it, but I have had to resort to making Lin’s daily supply of coffee with the espresso machine. While it doesn’t take any longer than it does for me to fill his two travel mugs using it as it did the other coffee machine, it does, in fact, take exactly three times more brain power and effort. The steps required to make two large mugs of dark, rich coffee with the espresso machine are beginning to make me grumpy, and I am grumpy enough in the mornings without any help from complicated appliances.

Add “new coffee machine” to the list of things we will be getting with either our tax refund or the later-arriving economic stimulus check [snort]. One with a timer might be nice, so whatever effort and brain power necessary could be spent before going to bed when I tend to have more of both. Why, if it had a timer on it, it’s possible I could train Lin to pour it into his travel mugs all by himself, therefore affording me the opportunity to not have to function at all so early in the morning.

Ah, but then I wouldn’t get to walk him out to the truck in my pajamas every morning, and wouldn’t that be a shame?

Did ya try the vinegar flush on the coffee pot?

Yes, several times. There’s just something wrong with the heating unit. It seems to be making the water too hot, and instead of sending out hot water, it’s spewing most of it out as steam. I left the lid open and watched the whole cycle. At the very beginning, it works fine, but then it just starts steaming. After the cycle turns off and the heating bit stops heating, it pumps water again for a while. I might take it apart and just plinker around with it, since it’s broken anyway. And, what do you expect from a $20 coffee machine anyway?

Oh sweet gurrgling sounds of the morning… A maker with a timer is the best thing humans have come up with since espresso! But the real question is, can your hard working, ever loving, or is it hard loving, ever working, fella retreat from espresso’s embrace? Did you switch to Arabica Beans and get them ground for domestic espresso? Are you texturing the milk? If so, you may have changed him forever! Gentle, now, because he may have to hide his espresso passion from the guys at the site (philistines!), but he wouldn;t be the first guy to know good coffee and slurp the froth through the travel mug hole!

Unfortunately, I believe he is once again addicted to the espresso and there will be no turning back. He has always gotten jobs at work about his coffee, because he drinks great coffee (prepared by a loving wife, no less). They are just jealous!

He’s been drinking Arabica for a while now. At the moment Sumatran, and I grind them myself. I didn’t get the grind quite right the first day, but hey, it’s been four years since I made espresso. He drank it anyway.
