Orange

To make up for being such an annoying little furball all day yesterday, Myu was a total snuggle bug last night. Nothing but cuddles, wiggling, loud purring, face patting, and nose licking all night long. Of course, this is also somewhat annoying when one is trying to sleep on an unseasonably warm night, but she’s so adorable when she decides to love on us, who can complain?

As soon as Lin is out of the house, I am going to hurriedly get the housework done so I can get to the craft store at opening to buy a new canvas. I am eager to get to work on Rising Scar today! Since it’s mixed media, and there are likely to be lengthy drying times on some things, that means I have to make myself stay focused on working on it, otherwise it will become just one more unfinished work that takes me years to get done (if ever). I have enough of those already, thank you very much.

At some point today, I need to shred the last of the roast for sandwiches tonight, and Lin gets to eat the leftover sweet potatoes from last night. Instead of making the oven fries this time, I boiled them like a person normally would, and upon taking the first bite had the same reaction I have had to sweet potatoes since I was a kid: nausea, upset stomach, and utter revulsion. It’s weird that I love them as oven fries but still can’t eat them boiled. Now I wonder it they undergo some kind of chemical change during boiling that they don’t during baking. It seems weird that they would, but these are the same sweet potatoes grown on the same farm, in the same dirt, and the only difference was how they were made, and I had what I recognize as an allergic reaction. I was a little let down (and left a little hungry). I want to like sweet potatoes!

Actually, all orange vegetables disagree with me when they are boiled. Is it possible to be allergic to beta carotene?

Heh, forgot to hit the post button! Lin’s out of the house and off to work. It must be time to rustle up some grub, get dressed, and wait impatiently for the craft store to open. And … it’s Super Tuesday, so there’s going to be plenty of ridiculous political babbling from the talking heads today on the TV. I think I’ll put my Sunrise Earth DVD on continuous loop and listen to the sounds of nature all day. Much more relaxing!

My muse will not shut up! She’s not taking “the store doesn’t open for a few hours yet” as an answer. She just wants to get creating right now! It’s good to have that little voice nagging in my head again. It’s been too long.
