Sleep Like You Mean It

Today has been something of a loss. We went to the market this morning. We came home with 13 pounds of pork and beef and five pounds of sweet potatoes. The only other things available were salad greens and cauliflower, both of which were so over-priced I couldn’t justify paying it. Oh, there were some hydroponic tomatoes too, but they looked and felt just like the crappy ones in the store, so we skipped those as well. Looks like I will finally be going to Whole Foods or Central Market to get some veggies Monday or so. Or maybe I’ll just buy some regular non-organic/non-local ones at the HEB. I’m not heartbroken about it because I think eating pesticide-covered veggies will actually harm us but because the organically grown local stuff tastes so much better. It’s really hard to go back and eat the regular stuff again. But we have to eat something other than meat and sweet potatoes all week, don’t we?

And the meat people didn’t have any hamburger! This is truly a tragedy!

We stopped at Ken’s Tacos for brunch, ate our gigantic breakfast tacos at home, and then we set about playing our video games. I got bored and cold, so at some point, I went and curled up on the bed. My cellphone woke me up about an hour ago. I slept the day away. Lin joined me in bed at some point. He is still in there sleeping now. Laziness stuck hard!

I was supposed to process the roast into sandwich meat and stew meat so we could have one of those thing for dinner tonight, but now it’s getting late, and I am still lazy. Looks like we’ll be having microwavable White Castles for dinner tonight. I’m not really complaining. I happen to be addicted to them, and I do always keep a box or two in the freezer for just such lazy occasions.

Tomorrow I want to go out into the world and hit some dollar stores (or maybe even Walmart) to get some construction paper and colored tissue paper. I am having an idea rumbling around in my head that won’t shut up, and I want to do something about that messed up painting while I feel like fixing it. Though I suspect, seeing as it will be Super Bowl Sunday, I may put off doing any school supply shopping until Monday. It’s liable to be a madhouse out there tomorrow, and well … I might want to be lazy and lounge on the couch watching Puppybowl.

I’m off to the kitchen to make some oven fries. Then I’ll wake Lin up so we can eat and watch Torchwood. After that, I expect there to be much more laziness from both humans and cats.
