Beliefs

Kenno did it, so I had to do it too. Actually, I did this quiz some time ago, and while I can’t recall which my top matches were, I am certain they were not the same as they are today. I think for anyone who has known me for any length of time, the top ten matches for which belief system most closely matches what I believe.

1. Unitarian Universalism (100%)
2. Neo-Pagan (99%)
3. Liberal Quakers (94%)
4. New Age (91%)
5. Mahayana Buddhism (85%)
6. Taoism (78%)
7. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (77%)
8. Theravada Buddhism (74%)
9. Secular Humanism (73%)
10. New Thought (70%)

I’m only going to list the top ten, though the quiz provides more than that. After #10, the percentage match drops off quickly. Let’s put it this way: Scientology was #11, and I think we all know how I feel about that particular “religion” don’t we?

And I’d be going to the U-U church if it didn’t require getting up early on the only day of the week I don’t have to get up and do something … and if I could get Lin to go with me, because I am such a wimp about entering rooms full of people I don’t know. Well, that and the fact that organized religion freaks me out somewhat. But Lin is never going to go with me, and I am never going to not want to sleep in on Sunday. The chances of me ever attending any sort of “church” service is now and has been for a while sitting at no chance at all. I feel certain the universe won’t hold it against me.

I selected so many ‘none of the above’s that I think I broke it. So glad my religion isn’t on that list.

The only thing I really miss about church is the social and community aspects. I don’t miss the preaching, because no matter how many churches I visit (and there have been a lot), there just isn’t one where my ideas fit in well enough that I am not out of place. Which is fine with me. Lets me sleep in on Sunday.

If you ever tell her, warn me first so I can go visit Mars or something. I’d like to be as far away as possible.
