Geek Overload

I sure hope Lin wasn’t expecting me to get anything done today. If he was, he most certainly should not have stopped by the house and dropped off my new cell phone this morning. I have, in fact, wasted an entire day playing with my new phone, a Nokia 6133. No really … the entire day. I still haven’t learned everything there is to learn about it … or played all the games.

And, since it’s a Bluetooth device, and my iMac has Bluetooth, I paired the two. My Precious, the computer, and Frodo, my cell phone. It was so easy. I couldn’t believe how easy it was to get the two talking to each other. I love my iMac as much as I love my cell phone! I love them both!!!

OMG! I am in geek gadget overload!

The camera on it is wimpy in low light, but then what do you expect from a cell phone. Hopefully one day soon there will be sunlight and I won’t be sitting in my dark cave. Still, it has a camera, with video, and though the video is smallish, it rocks. It also has an FM radio which kicks butt. And, even though T-Mobile would like you to buy all your ringtones from them, I have already found a way around that little issue. Not that I won’t eventually be buying a ringtone or two, but I can make almost anything I want, so that can wait a while. Currently, my ringtone is me ranting at myself to pick up the phone. It’s pretty hilarious (to me anyway). The alarm is also cool! I can set the alarm and set what days I want it to repeat, like at 5:30 am M-F, and I don’t have to remember to turn it on every night. I think I can even set more than one alarm, which would be awesome too.

I also got my new phone set up to post to my LJ by text message, and as soon as I work out a kink or two, I’ll be able to post to my main web site as well. I need to upgrade WordPress, I think. I’ll get that worked out. I have to. If I can get it to post to my blog, it will automatically post to my LJ as well. There’s just a glitch somewhere that needs to be ironed out.

I’m so excited! It’s just the coolest phone. I can’t stop playing with it! I guess I had better stop playing with it though and go finish making the pizza. Aside from poking around on my phone all day, making dinner will be the only thing of worth I accomplish. Wait … I did clean the cat box too. Does that count as an accomplishment?

Off to the kitchen! I’m hungry from all that button pushing.

  1. I have made a few ringtones in case you’re interested. I have the RapCat meow rap from the Checker’s commercial as one of my tones. People love that one. I also have Stewie Griffin saying “oh yes, yes, I love crack! I’m absolutely coo coo for crack!” I have Cartman from South Park saying “Screw you guys, I’m going home!” and of course I have one that is just a cat meowing fairly loudly. People always look around for the cat when I’m using that one and my phone rings. Of course that’s not always such a good thing when one forgets to turn their cell phone off during an exam and everyone in the class can hearing meowing coming from your purse. Makes it hard to act like it’s not your phone ringing. Thankfully, a few people giggled and that was the worst of it. Still, it was quite embarrassing.

Oh, and of course, your cats would love to hear strange meowing coming out of your purse. :D

  2. Oh, the meowing one would be too funny. The cats are so interested in ringing cell phones anyway, that’d be sure to set them off. :D

Right now I am using a recording of myself yelling at myself to answer my damn phone as a ringtone. I forgot I had that set up that way, and my phone has rung so seldom the last two days, when it went off last night, I almost jumped out of my skin. Nothing like hearing yourself ranting in the other room.
