I either need to start watching Fox News, or I need to stop discussing current events with family members. It doesn’t matter what topic or current event is being discussed, they always have it all wrong or with major facts missing, and then they ask me where I am getting such incorrect news when I try to fill them in on what’s really happening!
So where do I get my news? Everywhere. There is no one single news source I turn to, no one single voice I listen to, no one single news outlet I trust to give me the whole story. I read news from around the world in as many languages as I can manage. I usually read no less than three articles on the same story from different sources, and often I read many more than that. It’s almost the only way to be certain you are getting the whole story, because ALL news sources seem to have a bias of one sort or another these days … and many of them are just plain sloppy with reporting even the simplest of things.
So, who you gonna trust? Someone who has been to college, stays current on what is going on in the world as well as knowing the history of it all, and reads from sources the world over … or someone who dropped out of high school and watches Fox News 24/7 as though it was God’s given word? If you are a member of my family, you trust Fox News above all else, and then you misinterpret what they are saying on top of it all.
I mean, they have to be misinterpreting it, or is Fox News really under the impression that Musharraf [Pakistan] really is calling a state of emergency in his country and beating up lawyers and judges in order to combat the Taliban … and that what he is up to is a GOOD thing? Maybe I need to watch some Fox News today while I am going to housework.
But first, I have to call my mom and deal with the on-going crisis that is her cell phone. Maybe more on this later, if my head threatens to explode and I find the time to sit still long enough to rant.
Orb,
A funny this is going on over at MSNBC. You know they believe they are the other all news cable outlet. Apparently the are considering on hiring Rosie O’Donnell to fill their 9 PM prime time slot. This is same Ms O’Donnell who believes building 7 at the WTC was brought down by a Bush conspiracy. Call me crazy, but there is something wrong when you combine Rosie O’Donnell, and what is suppose to be an all news cable outlet. Yes I know it is being done for ratings in an attempt to pull MSNBC’s ratings up from the murky bottom, but you would think they could find someone who isn’t viewed as a loon. But maybe they don’t care if it turns into a food fight as long as it increases their ratings. :|
I hate that woman. Really. Hate. What a ridiculous thing for MSNBC to do. Sure, might raise the ratings on prime time, but it lowers the bar WAY too far.
This is why I try my best not to watch any of the news channels. It’s all about ratings. News? Not so much anymore.
