Organization

Thousands of photos deleted out of iPhoto. On purpose. I’ve spent I don’t know how many hours sitting here going through my photo collection and being rather ruthless with the deletions. If it was out of focus or the exposure was seriously off, it got deleted … unless it was a really special, one-of-a-kind photo (like kitty photos or action shots that won’t be gotten again). Then I went through the ones I had sorted through with those criteria and deleted things where the composition didn’t “feel” right. Thousands of photos gone, and I’ve only worked my way back to Xmas of last year. I thought that would be a good place to stop, because I will be able to remember where I was.

My brain is semi-fried. :P

I told myself when I got the iMac, I was going to stay organized, and I wasn’t going to fall into my old habit of stuffing things in folders never to be seen again. I did that, at first. Then I fell back into my old ways. My computer is a mess. Something has to be done about it, and so, I’m doing something about it. Finally. I decided to start with the photos, because that’s going to be one of the quicker projects to get done. At least as far as the photos on the iMac go. Once I get these all sorted out and tagged, then I need to finish getting the photos off of my old computer. Yes, I still haven’t done that. It’s going to be a pain. If I have managed to amass a collection of 8,000 photos on the iMac (pre-deletion) in the year and some months I have had it, you can only imagine how many photos I have sitting on the secondary drive of the computer I used for over ten years. I really don’t want to think about it, but I have to don’t I?

Even though going through all those photos was something of a chore and headache (and I am not even close to being done yet), it was fun too. There are some rare gems in there I had forgotten about … particularly of the kitties. Like this one of the two of them fighting over the box my Hello Kitty iPod clock radio came in:

Box Fight

That box, by the way, is still sitting on the living room floor, they still manage to squeeze their now adult bodies into it, and yes … they still fight over it at least once a week.

I should work on the photos some more, but I have been sitting here too long already. It’s not that I have anything much to do today, except get some sleep and pop the White Castle cheeseburgers into the microwave for dinner tonight, but I’m thinking that sitting here all day working on photos will a) not be good for my back and wrists, b) be somewhat boring, and c) will drive me insane. I’m crazy enough as it is!

It’s time to decide whether I go to sleep for a few hours now or whether I want to goof off and play a video game or watch a movie. I bet you I choose to watch a movie and then fall asleep on the couch five minutes into it. That’s if the bratty cats allow me to fall asleep. They seem to be in a pesky and feisty mood this morning. :)
