I have a flank steak thawed for dinner, and I am totally uninspired about what to do with it. I am so sick of Swiss Steak, and even if I weren’t, we have had meat with tomato sauce too many times this week already.
I should have gone grocery shopping. Had I gone grocery shopping, we would have lettuce, and then I could be a totally lazy chef and make ham sandwiches for dinner. That’s what I get for being too lazy to go to the store today. I suppose I could make sandwiches anyway, but there will be grumbling if they aren’t awesomely incredible sandwiches (with lettuce). We just had gruel last night, and I do try not to be lazy two nights in a row.
Gruel, for those who have never lived with me, is whatever meats (usually ground) that need to be used with pasta and tomato sauce. It’s not actually awful. In fact, it’s just like spaghetti, except I use shell pasta and mix it all together rather than put the meat and sauce on top of naked pasta, but Lin seems to hate it for some reason (though he loves spaghetti).
Ok, I have decided I am not up to dealing with the flank steak tonight. Sandwiches sans lettuce it is, but I’ll make the effort to make some fresh cut french fries. Maybe that will make up for the lack of lettuce … that and how wonderful the fresh bread is for sandwiches.
Don’t mind me. I’m tired and getting cranky. I think I need a little nap.
Oh, and Mom’s computer desk arrived at last, just after 10 am like I said it would. Told her so.
