Unbelievable

I haven’t had anything to say about the whole Dog-Killer Vick story, because what is there to say? He’s a disgusting human being. What is driving me truly crazy about the whole mess isn’t that there are people out there with money enough in their pockets to do good things and instead choose to do disgusting, evil things. No, what’s driving me crazy is that there is even any discussion going on at all about his career in the NFL and how going to jail is going to affect it. From sports organizations, through sport-casters and news organizations, all the way down to fans, too many people care more about how soon he can get back into the game. It makes me sick.

In fact, the people and organizations thinking he should be allowed to return to playing football are far more concerned about the fact that he gambled on the dog fights and couldn’t care less about what he personally did to the dogs or the entire concept of dog-fighting as a bad thing. Sure, go ahead and brutally torture and kill as many dogs as you like, but don’t you DARE bet on anything. Gambling is EVIL.

I even read a few comments here and there comparing Ricky Williams getting busted for smoking pot and still getting to play in the NFL with Vick killing dogs. Um … the two are in no way comparable, and only a moron would compare them as equals.

Here’s one of the ridiculous comments I just have to share with you:

Nichelle Williams of Woodbridge, Virginia
If Imus is going to return back to the air … then Vick should return to the field. You violate some people or beings; you apologize, let the air clear and go on with business as usual!

He “violated” these dogs to death in really gruesome, sick-minded ways. Is that the way our legal system should work? I guess according to Nichelle it is. You do something wrong, and all you have to do is apologize for it, then we can all get back to our happy, happy lives as though nothing at all happened. If a rapist apologizes, is he then a good person again? A child molester? What about a murderer? Or is it because it was just dogs? There’s a bit of a difference between insulting someone with words and killing dogs with your own hands through torturous means. One you might be able to apologize for and go on with your life as it was before, one of them you cannot … or at least should not. I’ll leave it to you to guess which is which. I’ll give you a hint, Nichelle thinks apologies make everything better, and she’s apparently functioning with less than a full bag of marbles.

  1. I think the only way Vick could possibly redeem himself at this point would not be just to say he’s sorry, but show it in some way. Some of the ways he could do that would be to give large amounts of money to animal-related charities, volunteer for animal-related charities, publicly speak out against dog-fighting, get rid of his “thug” friends and drop the “thug” attitude and suck it up and pay his debt to society. He knows he’s facing prison time. Football should be the least of his concerns right now. Granted, that was how he made a living and he won’t be playing for a few years for sure, plus he’s lost his endorsements. Still, he should probably have enough money to survive during his time in prison. I think if he did some of these things, he might be able to redeem himself somewhat. He was a great football player, but I know I’ll never look at him the same way again, and I’m sure many people feel the same way. The only good thing about all of this is that it has brought the whole issue of dogfighting more into the public eye. This crap goes on just about everywhere and maybe now we can catch and prosecute some more of these assholes that participate or associate with dogfighting or other animal cruelty activities.
Personally, I would have tied him up and stuck him in a pen full of angry pit bulls, but I’m evil that way…

  2. Every time I see his face, it makes me want to hit him. I never thought about him at all before, because I don’t follow football at all, so to me, doesn’t matter if he drops off the face of the planet … or gets eaten by pit bulls.

Right before this story about him broke into the news, there was a dog-fighting ring somewhere around Dallas that was busted up. It does go on everywhere, and it freaking needs to stop.

  3. Wow, you’re up late! I follow football because my Dad liked football so much, I guess. And I play fantasy football as well. Vick was always a good one to watch because he could scramble and run like no one else. I just don’t understand why someone who was making gobs of money and had his talent had to get involved in a dog-fighting business. He didn’t need the money, so why do something illegal and risk it all? It just doesn’t make sense at all. Probably never will, either.

If they had ended up letting him play, I certainly was not going to have him on my team. I can’t stand people who are cruel to animals. I think there’s something seriously wrong with people like that.

I had been following the story of the 2 teen girls that set a kitten in a trap on fire. Thankfully, a young boy came along and was able to save the kitten and get him to a woman who could take him to a vet. The poor kitten had to have skin grafts and they had to amputate his tail and tips of his ears. He’s doing much better now. They caught the 2 girls responsible, but they probably won’t do much to them because they are juveniles. The fact that 2 young girls would do something like this to an innocent kitten just makes me sick. What is wrong with people? And where the hell are the parents that are bringing up these worthless pieces of shit? They ought to charge them with something. They should have to sit in jail for a few years, pay for all of the kitten’s medical bills and never be allowed to be around another animal again. They really need to make the penalties higher for animal cruelty as well. I don’t care if these girls are juveniles. I think they should throw them UNDER the jail, personally.

  4. Keep having bizarre dreams that wake me up. Sucks.

    But back on topic:

The fact he seemed to have everything going his way is exactly one of the most stupid things about this. Not that animal cruelty is understandable in any context, but if he was some uneducated, dirt poor slob living in the sticks among a bunch of other people who also don’t give a crap about animals, at least you could say, “well, those stupid people don’t know better.” This guy had a contract for $130 million and wasn’t uneducated or living in the sticks. He had to have known better, you know? I mean, he had everything, set for life, and he threw it away to kill dogs? Now that is real stupidity. Christ, give me just a million bucks, and Lin and I would never have to work again and would want for nothing for the rest of our lives. It’s amazing how much he stupidly threw away.

And there is something seriously wrong with people who are cruel to animals. Study after study has shown that people who are intentionally and willingly evil to animals have no problems at all escalating that to humans. They are messed up in the head somehow. I keep this in mind when dealing with the Insane Neighbors. L. has no problem “getting rid” of kittens by simply killing them. That is the number one factor for why I do not put up with any shit from her anymore, and why I stay the hell away from them. She is capable of killing kittens herself, and she owns a gun (and is just plain crazy). Bad mix. (If I ever get proof about the kitten thing over there, you can bet I will turn their sorry asses in too.)

I heard about that kitten story too. Just insane. Parents failed, or didn’t even try, to instill some respect for life in all forms. I agree penalties should be higher for animal cruelty, especially since it has shown such a high correlation with later criminal activity against humans. Maybe it would stop some people from escalating to that level, or at least it would get them off the streets for a while to think about things.

I’m not a PETA freak who thinks animals need equal rights to humans, because I do see and understand the distinction between lower animals and higher animals (us humans), but it takes a special kind of psychopathic mind to intentionally torture an animal. And then I am reminded that G.W. Bush used to stuff firecrackers in frogs and blow them up as a boy. When that came out, I don’t think enough people got upset enough about the fact that the President of the USA was just another Ted Bundy in the making who hadn’t gotten around to killing humans yet. Well, he is now, by proxy, I guess.

Anyway, I could rant about this all day. I gotta go do some housework! :D
