Shopping wasn’t too bad. I did have a panic attack on the way to the store when the truck informed me I was low on fuel. I already knew that, but Lin said it wasn’t that urgent. Well, the truck kept beeping at me whining about wanting gasoline. I called Lin from the store to make sure I wasn’t going to run out on the way home. I didn’t. Tomorrow, I better go get gas.
Organic fruit has come to my grocery, finally. The apples and grapes were far too expensive, but I did score some organic bananas for seventy-nine cents a pound! And while Bluebell may be the best ice cream in the country, after reading all the labels, I bought Breyers All Natural. No idea on how good the natural ingredients in it are or where they come from, but at least it only has things that should be in ice cream.
Also, I read all the labels on the chocolate syrup today too. My mom, who is continually displeased about the number of products at the store that are labeled entirely in Spanish would be upset with my purchase. Not a lick of English on the package … a product of Nestles Mexico. Yes, after reading all the labels, it turned out the product from Mexico was the only one that listed sugar (real sugar), water and cocoa as the main ingredients with only a bit of vitamin C for preservation. All the rest, and I do mean ALL the rest? Cocoa was so far down the list of chemical names posing as food ingredients, one has to wonder how they manage to call it chocolate syrup at all, and there was no REAL sugar in sight on any of them.
I’m going to put off making bread until tomorrow. Too damn lazy. Besides, tomorrow is pizza day, so I might as well just do all the bead-type stuff at one time so there will only be one big mess to clean up. More masterful procrastination by yours truly. :)
Tonight, we are having chicken for dinner. We haven’t had chicken since this whole “eating healthy” thing started, because I haven’t found a reliable source of local chicken yet. What I did find at the store today was Halal chicken that also claims not to use any drugs and so on on the birds. It doesn’t mention being free range, but there wasn’t any better option, and quite frankly, I was beginning to miss chicken. I am looking forward to some roast bird tonight. Yum!
Since I have finished the one major task for the day, getting groceries, and I have decided to procrastinate on the other major task for the day, making bread, it must mean it’s time to feed the cats, clean their litter box, and then … video games and sweet tea!
The low pressure system that keeps hanging over Central Texas could just move along now. So tired of all the rain it keeps dragging into the area. It was sunny just a few minutes ago, and now it’s getting as dark as evening outside again. I guess there’s more rain on the way. Bah.
People laugh at the EU for having definitions of how much cocoa must be in things before they change from being chocolate flavoured products to actual chocolate products.
Actually I’m one of them. Have a chocolate flavoured cookie. It’ll fill you out in all the [glances down] oh wait you already are.
If you give food manufacturing companies an inch, they will take a mile … as in charging chocolate prices for things containing very little chocolate … and you only have to eat one chocolate-flavored Easter Bunny to determine there is a difference between “chocolate flavored” and chocolate. Yuck. :boom:
