Doorstop?

I think I am in the process of making my very first bread-like doorstop. It’s my first loaf of whole wheat bread, and it just doesn’t seem to want to rise much at all. It had stopped rising, so I punched it down, kneaded it a little, and now, just for the hell of it, I am letting it rise again. At some point I will be forming it into a loaf and baking it, but for now, I’m just going to totally ignore it to see if it wants to rise at all this time around.

What’s the best way to ignore something? Playing video games! Yes, I am settling my butt on the couch and FINALLY playing some more Final Fantasy XII. About damn time!

The angel food cake turned out perfectly though, so at least all my baking today won’t have been a total loss. Good thing I bought that small loaf of bread at the store. Looks like we’ll have to eat some of it tonight. Poo. Oh well, can’t expect all my first loaves of bread to turn out perfect, can I? :D

  1. Enh, whole wheat bread, even when “perfect,” is pretty much a heavy doorstop anyway. Just make toast with it and tell Lin it’s supposed to be that way.

  2. That’s what I was wondering, if it isn’t just heavier anyway. Considering how grainy the flour is, it would almost have to be heavier. It’s rising pretty well the second time, so maybe not a doorstop after all.
