Concealed Carry
May 1st, 2007 - 8:18 am
Just a quick post this morning, as the weather is nasty, and I have a few things to get done before my motivation evaporates.
People who get freaked out about people having concealed carry licenses for a handgun, because OH MY GOD THERE WILL BE MAD AMOUNTS OF SHOOTING EVERYWHERE, need to get a clue or two. How many violent gun crimes are carried out by legally carrying, law abiding, and licensed gun owners? Seems to me, they have all been done by nut jobs and criminals who don’t give a thought at all about whether it’s legal or illegal to carry a gun where they plan to shoot people. I’ve been trying to find some statistics, but the closest I can come to anything definitive were several references stating the improper use of permitted weapons is almost non-existent, which I believe. It’s not those of us who follow the laws and apply for permits and take classes you need to worry about. It’s all those freaks, nuts and criminals who are getting their guns who knows where and don’t give a crap about the laws anyway.
Morning statistic: There are approximately 260,000 concealed carry permit holders in Texas. That’s actually a smaller number than I would have guessed.
Morning info-bit: It is still legal in Texas to carry your fully-loaded long gun in a gun rack in your truck or car in plain view, no license required.
Morning question: If you and I were walking down the street, and you knew I was carrying a concealed weapon, would this make you nervous?
Now to go get some things done around the house. I feel my motivation fading fast.

Answer to morning question: It depends upon the phase of the month. Normally I wouldn’t be nervous around you while you had any type of weapon, even sharp, pointy objects. On the other hand, when Aunt Flo is about to visit, I might be nervous even if you were empty handed.
Lin has had the same concerns, I assure you. LOL!
How would I know you were carrying something I couldn’t see?
Normal people on the street never knew, but my friends usually did … or they’d ask.
