Mom’s new Mac Mini arrived in Austin at some ungodly hour this morning. Looks like she’ll be getting her computer today, provided it doesn’t get on a slow truck to her home. My Applecare box, on the other hand, is still hanging out in Fort Worth. Weird seeing as they made the trip from California to Fort Worth together.
I still have a severe headache, which differs from a migraine in that aspirin does sometimes make the headache go away unlike a migraine. I haven’t done any yoga since I started feeling crappy last week … just didn’t have the energy to get down on the floor and assume strange postures. I have to record some more episodes of Namaste Yoga to DVD today to clear out the DVR, so I think I’ll take that opportunity to do some stretching, even if it’s only a few warm-up routines. The yoga helps with headaches like nothing else does. Migraines? I don’t know yet. I haven’t had a serious migraine since I caught the yoga bug. It would be cool if it helped with that too.
I’ll tell you something else the yoga is helping with … flabby abs. Totally unexpected, but there’s actually starting to be some definition in those soft and pasty-looking muscles. Not that I was ever bothered by my soft and pasty-looking abs, but it’s wild seeing them pull into shape with so little work. Well, it’s not really so little work. Yoga IS a workout, let me tell you. In another few weeks, I may have to show off my fancy new muscles and post a photo. My arms are looking really muscular too, but then they always have. Probably has something to do with doing some push-ups every day.
It’s wild that after an adult lifetime of trying every exercise program out there trying to form my body into something slightly more athletic than its natural state (intermittent years of fanatic weightlifting come to mind — as does years of fanatic aerobics), I find after all these years the very thing I was turned off of by all the religious/spiritual gobbledygook many years ago is the very thing that may very well help me achieve my goal. The side benefit is that I am also experiencing something of a spiritual renovation as well, which has been sort of nice.
I have a list of household tasks to do today. Once they are done and I have worked up a healthy sweat doing yoga, I am going to focus on finishing that damn painting. Every day I say I am going to work on it, by the time I get around to it, I get in maybe five or ten minutes work before Lin gets home and it’s time for dinner prep to start. Annoying! Today I am going to focus on really spending some time with it. I am so eager to see it done. I still don’t know whether I am happy with it or not, but then that’s pretty much how I feel about every painting I have ever done. :D
Onward into the fray and onward into the day!
