Worked Nerves

I got the DVD I recorded yesterday to play on both our computers. I just didn’t wait long enough for it to load. It takes forever. You could make popcorn and go to the bathroom while you are waiting. So now I am happy with the DVD recorder. Lin isn’t due to not being able to play the HDTV shows back in full screen. As it turns out, with a little research, I discovered that our DVD recorder is doing the best it or any other can. The only options for recording full screen HDTV is to use D-VHS (eeek — tape) or an external DVR and hard drive. So there. We have the best thing out there. I’m cool with it. If I absolutely must see something in full screen, I guess I can play it on the Playstation (which oddly enough does so).

Of course, that isn’t stopping Lin from wanting to go buy an external hard drive for our cable box. What good does it do for us to store tons of stuff on an external hard drive that will be wiped clean when (not if) our cable box needs to be replaced? I hear the DVR boxes have a high failure rate, and I know we went through about one regular cable box a year. So I see no benefit. I’d rather have my shows and movies on DVD, so at least I can watch them in some form, no matter what happens with the cable box. Saving a bunch of shows, only to lose them all when the cable box freaks out and needs to be replaced, feels like a huge waste of time (and money). Lin’s working my nerves, and I don’t have a lot of nerves left to be worked today.

The kittens are working my nerves today too. They are totally insane today. Ronin has knocked down the dining room chairs and my art stool too many times today for it to be accidental, and Myu has discovered how to get on the kitchen work table without having to jump on a stool nearby first. I don’t know how she did it, but I suspect she has finally learned how to jump better than even Ronin, who jumps higher than any cat I have ever seen (but hasn’t yet noticed he could get on the work table if he wanted to). Are they ever going to chill out … or take any sort of negative or positive reinforcement of behaviors to heart?! They are like little wild things. I have never had this may problems with cats before. These two seem to be completely un-trainable.

At least I cleaned the kitchen. Go me.

I think I’ll go eat some leftover pizza and take a nap. And don’t ask me how the second sock is going either. It’s been working my very last nerve too.
