In a strange turn of events (in the world of DVD recording), the movie I recorded plays just fine on the Playstation 2. The TV even gives me the option to zoom in so it fills the screen perfectly. Looks good enough for me, but I shouldn’t have to play DVDs burned on a somewhat pricey DVD recorder on my PS2. They should play on one of the other more expensive, fancier, and more suitable DVD playing devices in the house.
This little bit of the puzzle leads me further to believe that the problem is with what cables the thing is hooked to the system with. I may have to pull out a component video cable and try hooking it up that way. I read some reviews that said the quality wasn’t as good as S-Video, as I would expect, but it may not be so much that I would notice or care that much. I won’t know until I try it.
On Monday. I am done with it for the weekend. Unless Lin wants to mess with it this weekend, but he’s lazier than I am on weekends, so I doubt that will happen. It’s been in the house for several weekends now, and he hasn’t so much as touched the thing.
In other news, Papa John’s Pizza has finally caught on that you could create your own pizza by totally rearranging the ingredients on The Works, without paying what it would cost to get the same pizza as a Create Your Own. Dammit. Now they only let you switch around about three ingredients. Oh well, it was a great scam while it lasted … about two years. Good scams never last.
In order to make sure no one had to eat anything they didn’t want to eat, and not pay a small fortune for the pizza, I had to order a Hawaiian BBQ pizza and switch the two ingredients they would let me switch on that one. It’ll be tasty, but it’s not the mega-cool each-half-perfect-for-each-of-us pizza. I guess if we are ever to have a The Works pizza again, I will have to decide which I hate more on my pizza: green peppers or onions. I won’t be able to relegate both of them to Lin’s half anymore. Sigh. It’ll probably have to be the green peppers I leave on. At least I can see them well enough to pluck them off.
