Pet Owner Alert!

A major pet food maker is recalling millions of containers of its products after some dogs and cats died after eating it.

Menu Foods is recalling dog food sold under 46 brands and cat food sold under 37 brands and distributed throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. The pet foods were sold by major retailers, including Wal-Mart, Kroger and Safeway.

Some of it was sold under the Iams and Eukanuba brands.

The recall covers the company’s “cuts and gravy” style food.

The pet food is sold under more than 40 different product and store names. A complete list of the recalled products is available from the Menu Foods website.

The company says an unknown number of cats and dogs suffered kidney failure, and about 10 died after eating the affected food. It’s still trying to determine what happened.
