Shield Your Eyes

OK, OK, I’ll show you the new hair color. Shield your eyes. It’s BRIGHT!

Carrot Top

After comparing it to older photos of myself, I have determined it’s not really all that much different from the way my hair used to look … before all my red turned grey and I started dying it brownish-black and brown. Not to mention, I haven’t dyed my hair any color in ages. I guess I got really used to having dishwater blond hair with a lot of grey in it. In fact, comparing it to the little photo on the front page of my web site (taken last December), it’s actually not that much different as far as color goes. It’s just amplified by about a thousand.

I think I was just really surprised, because it came out a whole lot lighter than the box said it was going to for my current color. I was expecting it to be a bit darker and somewhat more subdued. Surprise!

I’m going to live with it for a while. I think I will be able to adapt. It helps that while I was out taking photos in the front yard, some guys in a car drove by and whistled at me and R. and his coworker, who are working on the fence next door, complimented me on it too. The final verdict will be seeing Lin’s reaction. I’m sure he won’t complain. If it were black or I had cut it short, he’d complain. He’ll probably tease me about it though, but then he teases me about everything.

And if I decide I really can’t stand it, I can always change it, wear lots of hats, or never leave the house again.

    It’s fan-freaking-orbbo-tastic.

Janno and I both love it. Janno was impresssed, you did a very good job of getting a very evenly coloured do (that’s a feat it seems).

You know, never judge it until after the second wash and get some conditioner on there (how personal!)

Oh that is how my hair is when it’s over conditioned. I usually weigh down all the wispy stuff with a leave in conditioner or anti-frizz stuff, but I thought it better not to put too much stuff on my hair in one day. My hair is one huge expanse of baby-fine frizz the moment it’s conditioned and encounters outdoor humidity. After I get to wash it, I’ll beat it into submission and take some tamed shots.

And yes, it is remarkably easy to end up with blotchy hair, especially when you are dying long hair. I’ve had a few oops of that nature until I learned how to be a contortionist and how to get it covered completely everywhere.

The general consensus is “it’s cool” so I guess it’s cool. After not looking in a mirror for a few hours and happening to catch a glimpse while chasing cats out of the bedroom, I think I am liking it more now. It was a bit of a shocker though at first.

Ooooo, I like it! But then, I’ve always liked red hair.
