Remember how I said I was going to be sick of the media going on and on about 2008 presidential candidates long before thinking about who is running is even an issue (you know, sometime in 2008)? I fired up my news reader today and was slapped in the face with the news that Obama’s great-great-great-great grandfather and great-great-great-great-great grandmother each owned two slaves. Well, I guess HIS run for the Whitehouse is over now isn’t it?
Almost as hilarious is the next thing that popped up informing me that Hillary Clinton’s 40 year old college thesis could be a “Rosetta Stone” that could help us “decode” her thinking. I’ve written a good number of theses. I will tell you most of them might help you decode the thinking of my thesis adviser and the thesis board who I had to argue it with, but none of them reflect any thoughts I might have today … and mine aren’t even 40 years old yet. Amazing how people change as they age, isn’t it?
This is a perfect example of the nit-picky crap we are going to be hearing until November 2008, and the masses of sheeple will eat it up. None of this has anything to do with whether or not someone would be a good leader for the USA. I don’t want to know who’s great-great’s owned slaves or what someone was writing about in college (so long as they got good grades — I do insist a president have a brain), or any other such nonsense. What I care about is what they believe right now and what they plan to do if elected. My only hope is that other Americans care about those things too.
