Stable?

“Many parts of Iraq are stable now. But, of course, what we see on television is the one bombing a day that discourages everybody.â€
–Laura Bush
Oh, tra la la. There’s just one bombing a day! What’s everyone getting so upset about?! ![]()
I’m just guessing, but if there were daily bombs in California or any state in the Union, words like “stable” or “discourage” wouldn’t be used. No, I rather think words like “chaotic” and “terrifies” would be the operative words in use.
In addition to that one bombing a day Mrs. Bush mentions, it has been estimated there are approximately 185 insurgent and militia attacks DAILY. Oh yes, that sounds VERY stable. I can’t imagine why anyone would be discouraged about it all.

When hubby can’t justify for himself then loyal wife tries to intervene. Only trouble is it also makes her look just as bad. To change the nature of BULLSHIT you have to have a reason, a method, and be a president of the USA. Or his wife.
Or his mom. His mom says some of the most ignorant things ever too.
I have to stop watching news on TV. It doesn’t enraged me nearly as much to read this kind of crap, and I don’t have to look at them and see their lips moving when idiocy such as this comes out of their mouths.
And I hear the same sort of stuff from people on the street too … like “it’s just a few bombings in the whole country” … which is ridiculous when you consider how small that country is. Hell, even Texas is larger than Iraq, and I imagine if just one suicide/car/whatever bomb went off ever here, those same people would be screaming their heads off about it. It’s easy to be all tra la la about it when it isn’t in your back yard, isn’t it?
If you have a bomb going off somewhere in your country every day of the week, I don’t care HOW large or small said country is, that country can not be said to be stable at all. Laura needs to sit down and think about what it would be like if there was a bomb a day going off in the USA. Would she be just as quick to say “Oh, many parts of the US are stable, it’s just that one pesky bombing a day in the Los Angeles area that’s got everyone down.” Well, I don’t think she would, but at least if she did, every American would think she was on crack.
