Sock in Progress
February 25th, 2007 - 12:10 am
I started working on the first sock tonight. I found this pattern (Lacy Mock Cable Socks) and thought it was cute and far better than doing stockinette stitch round and round and round forever. I think it’s going to look neat when it’s done, and then I’ll have to try to match the starting point on the yarn do the striping matches at least a little. I decided to knit them on double pointed needles rather than trying to learn how to do socks on circulars. It just seemed too confusing, and I actually like working with DPNs.

I have this to say: Size 2 needles are very small. ![]()

I love that color! I’d like to try knitting socks. I don’t have any DPN’s though and the smallest needles I have now are size 4. I really need those dpn’s because I did an icord the other day and it drove me crazy with regular needles.
The colors are great. Catgirl really hit my favorite sorts of colors when she chose this yarn. I can’t wait to finish them so I can wear them!!
DPN’s take some getting used to, but I love working with them. Definitely have to have them for icord, unless you get one of those spool knitters. I got one, and it goes a lot more quickly and doesn’t kill my fingers. I wanted to get one of the kind you crank, but that just seemed like cheating.
The size 2 needles feel really small to me. I don’t think I’d ever want to go smaller … unless some awesome yarn and the perfect pattern cross my path and they require it, of course.
