Birthday Photos

Too tired to actually write anything much at the moment, so I’m just going to post some photos. I started a post about some funny stuff that happened on my birthday, but I can’t even spell “funny” … so maybe trying to be articulate at the moment isn’t such a good idea.

Behind the cut … photos of some birthday goodies. :)
Image heavy, obviously.

Birthday Cake

OK, so the cake was mostly chocolate, because Lin can’t resist chocolate. It’s very good though … so rich that one small slice a day is about all I can handle eating. There were also chocolate truffles and Girl Scout cookies. Sweets were the order of the day! Oh, and a bottle of sparkling Zinfandel … which is now my favorite alcoholic beverage. So sweet and bubbly!

Birthday Flowers

Totally unnatural flower colors, but I love them! They opened up a little more tonight, so tomorrow I am going to take some more photos of them tomorrow (hoping for sunlight). I just love the colors in this batch!

Box of Goodies

This is the box of goodies Catgirl sent me! Yarn, girly froo-froo stuff, teas, an adorable card … and YARN! The grey hank is bamboo yarn, and it’s so soft. The other skein is sock yarn!!! Yup, I am going to be knitting me some socks very soon! Thank you again!!!! It was all such a great surprise! Of course, now Lin is listening to me whining about needing to go get another set of size 2 tips for my circular set, because I want to learn how to knit socks on circular needles. Yes, I know I said I was never going to need any more needles again.

Cat Fight

Also in the box from Catgirl were two cute catnip toys for the babies and two bags of catnip. This explains how the unopened box ended up on a very high shelf where I didn’t see it for two days. They wouldn’t leave it alone. I kept putting it on higher and higher shelves, and finally it ended up on the top of the highest bookshelf in the house, over my head, which made it sort of out of sight – out of mind (until the initial new TV freak out was mostly over). They love these toys. I can’t leave them out, they love them that much. I got them out just before taking this photo, and Ronin had his behind the bed two seconds later … which is why they are fighting over the fish-shaped one Myu prefers. The other one is a goofy squirrel. They are so silly when they are playing with them, but it’s almost impossible to get a good photo. Have you ever tried to take photos of catnip-fueled super-sonic juvenile felines?!

I’m going to finish the cup of chamomile tea sitting beside me and go lay down, provided the kittens will settle down enough for a human to fall asleep. They were calm all day, but right after dinner, they went insane and have been that way ever since. :o

Phew. That’s more words than I thought I was going to be able to get out. It’s definitely time for some more sleep. Those kitties better quiet down now!

  1. Aww, how cute! I’m glad the felines are happy with their toys. I couldn’t resist that goofy looking squirrel.

It’ll be interesting to see what that sock yarn looks like when it’s knitted up. I’m not sure what you might want to make with the bamboo yarn, but if for some reason you need more, the yarn store still has some of the same lot number. Just let me know. I think I’m going to knit a tank top with the bamboo yarn I have. I want something that will feel good against my skin and I think a tank top with bamboo yarn will feel delicious.

Glad you got a kick out of that card. I was going to look at some other ones, but that one was just too funny and happened to be the first one I looked at. Let’s hope none of your kitties are pulling pieces of yarn out of their butts…

I hope you like the honey. That’s special Edgewater honey. After reading a book on all the things honey is good for, I now keep a constant supply at home. It’s helped with getting rid of headaches, good for burns, helped with me not getting sick much this winter, and is a great pick-me-up when needed. Hubby also has avoided catching any colds this winter and he thinks it’s because he’s been taking honey. If I even think I might be getting sick, I’ll take a teaspoonful of honey, a teaspoonful of apple cider vinegar and mix them in a cup of hot water and drink it. Last time I did that, I never did fully catch whatever it was I felt I was catching.

  2. I laughed my ass off about the card. I am constantly running around after these two taking away bits of yarn they grab when I am trimming the ends I work in, because I really don’t want to see them with yarn sticking out their butts. :D

And I have a plan for that bamboo yarn … sort of a scarf, but actually more like jewelry. It’s just the right color and has a nice shine to it. I was surprised by how soft it is! Going to do a test with some other yarn to see if my plan can be turned into an actual pattern before I did into the good stuff.

Well the honey was very nice in my chamomile tea last night. I’m going to make some homemade biscuits this week and a nice afternoon tea on my porch with that honey. It’s so tasty and different from the Texas honey around here.

Ronin loves that silly squirrel, and it is silly isn’t it? He’ll play with it for a while, and then he carries it around and stuffs it in all sorts of strange places … and then tries to take Myu’s toy, which never works out well. She’s getting a little more feisty as she gets older and isn’t as much of a pushover for him as she used to be.

Thanks again! Hopefully I’ll be wearing some new socks soon! LOL!
