Cold, But Good

OK. Had a good time. Could still be out having a good time, as we got on the guest list for the Grupo Fantasma show at The Parish tonight, but like the old people we are, we sat in the truck and debated hanging around in the cold down on 6th Street until the show started sometime after 11 pm and decided against it. Lin was tired. I was cold and getting hungry. 6th Street isn’t THAT much fun (and it’s expensive). So, we came home.

I quasi-regret that decision, as this band has been hanging with Prince a lot lately, so getting on the guest list was pretty cool, but … neither of us had really planned to be downtown all night. And it’s really cold and yucky out tonight. And we are really big old fogies.

Also, sorry no photo of me. Charging the batteries was a great idea. Not putting the fresh batteries in the camera was pretty stupid. So, I have exactly one photo of our night out … the church across the street from the excellent parking space we found about a block from the club. :D

Downtown Church

Nothing much to talk about really. Great to see some folks I hadn’t seen in a long while. Met some new folks. The whole group is just as “cliquey” as ever. Drank a few excellent Cuba Libras. Talked about art and engineering and party plans for later in the year. Seems there may be a new beginning for the charity group again (which is what this group was), but not formal balls this time … just club parties. We’ll see what happens with that. A lot of things can change between now and November. Had a nice dinner. Came home.

All in all, it was just what I was looking for … a nice relaxing few hours of forced socialization. Now I’m sleepy. Lin’s sleepy too. Guess it’s a good thing we didn’t stay downtown. We’d have been falling asleep before the show started.

Secretly, I will admit to looking forward to the next Happy Hour gathering in a few months. I had a good time, felt good about myself, and didn’t behave like a total social hermit … proving I am still capable of being charming when I have to be (and having a good time doing so).
