Kittens’ First Baths

Since it was such a warm and wonderful day, I decided my two furry babies should get their first baths. I’d wanted to do it much sooner, when they were younger, but it has just been too cold. Not today!

I attempted to set up my old computer and run the web cam, but no luck with that. I did managed to get it to save the captures to my hard drive though, so I put them together in a little stop motion video and uploaded it to YouTube for anyone who is interested.

Here are your classic “Mommy, what are doing DOING to me?!” photos:

Behind the cut are their post bath portraits and a bit more about the experience. :)

All in all, it didn’t go badly. No blood was shed, no bones broken, and nothing was destroyed. There wasn’t even much in the way of crying from the kitties. Ronin may like playing in water when it’s his idea, but he wasn’t nearly as happy when it was my idea. Though I was able to distract him somewhat with the sprayer head, which he thought was fascinating. Of the two, he was really the most well-behaved. Myu got jumpy just being put near the sink, and she was none too pleased about getting wet. She let out about two little mews and struggled a good bit, but eventually she sort of gave into the experience. Both baths went better than Fuzza’s first bath. In fact, both baths went better than the first twenty baths I gave Fuzza, so there’s a lot of hope that they will adapt to getting bathed better than he did. Oh, he put up with it, but there was always a lot of screaming, clawing, and trying to get away. Neither of them did much of that. In fact, even when they did try to get away, neither of my sweet darlings extended their claws. They are SUCH good kitties.

Being short haired cats, they are already mostly dry. I was actually surprised by how quickly they dried. Surprised and happy. Nothing sucks worse than a wet cat wandering around laying on things you may later want to sit on.

And they still love me! As soon as they had fluffed themselves up again and put every hair in its place, they came over for some attention … and now they are eating dinner, happy as clams. I’ve got the best kitties ever … and now they are super fluffy and soft and sweet smelling too! :sweety:
