We ate lunch. Kenny called and said he was going to “stop by” for a little while. I informed Lin he was not staying to watch the Super Bowl. Lin said Kenny wasn’t coming over to watch the Super Bowl.
We ran to Home Depot for a toolbox for the new work truck. Kenny called and started making noises about wanting to watch the Super Bowl. Told you so. Now I am going to be forced to watch football all evening, instead of say … the Knitty Gritty Marathon on DIY. We don’t even watch football in this household (how un-American of us). Lin told him staying for the game was a no-go, but I have already accepted that it’s going to happen. Kenny was just “stopping by” the last time he stayed until almost midnight. Difference is … I’m not making any snacks, and I am most certainly not making dinner for three or spending a wad of cash ordering pizza. If he wants to stay, he can, but he will have to starve and go thirsty while he is here.
OK, he can have some water, which is almost the only beverage we have in the house at the moment.
So IKEA will not be happening today, unless Lin comes to his senses, realizes someone is going to die if Kenny is here all night, and uses taking me shopping as an excuse to clear out the house. I’m not holding my breath about it.
I hate when people invite themselves over to use my TV and couch space. I distinctly recall hosting Super Bowl last year, not having any fun all day, and declaring quite publicly that next year (which is this year) it was someone else’s turn. Which really wouldn’t make me any happier, because I really don’t get into football anymore. I’d rather watch Knitty Gritty or the second Pirates of the Caribbean movie that mom loaned me.
Anyway, the day is beautiful, the sun is warm, the sky is blue, and I am going to go watch Lin install his new toolbox. It’s too nice not to be outside today.
