Damn DMV

I just tried to renew my driver’s license on line. Did you know you can only do it once, then you have to go into the actual DMV the next time? I didn’t. Dammit. I really, really, really hate going to the DMV. The lines, and the people in those lines, are always insane … and the people behind the counters are cranky. I can’t say I blame them, but still, would it hurt to smile or at least not snarl at people?

Oh well, I don’t even know how old the photo on my license is anyway (I had one inch long hair at the time, so a LONG time ago — like maybe from my mid-twenties), so it’s probably time to get a new one. I was just hoping to avoid the annoyance of having to fail the eye exam without my glasses and being definitively told that I am blind as a bat. I know I am, but I hate being reminded of it, and on those rare occasions when I forget to put my glasses on when making a quick run to the grocery store (I can actually see well enough to not run my car into people or things), it will now be a legal liability. I guess when I get new glasses (which I need), I’ll just put one pair in the truck so I always have some just in case.

Or maybe I will be able to use my amazing psychic powers and pass the eye exam. I don’t see that happening though. My distance vision is really getting broken. :D

So great, I get to look forward to standing in line with a bunch of crazy people and facing a grumpy person behind a counter and getting a photo taken that no matter what I do will end up looking like crap … and I get to pay for the joyful experience. Bah.
