Immigrants arrested in the United States may be held indefinitely on suspicion of terrorism and may not challenge their imprisonment in civilian courts, the Bush administration said Monday, opening a new legal front in the fight over the rights of detainees.
First it was foreigners picked up in foreign lands. Now it’s foreigners, legal or not, picked up in the USA. The only group the current administration hasn’t declared they can arrest and hold indefinitely without charges and with no redress at this point is Americans themselves, but I don’t doubt they will start doing that too, as soon as they think they “need” to.
The first thing I want our newly elected officials to do is to FIX THIS SHIT. This isan’t what American is about, and it isn’t what we were founded on. Remember ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL? That never meant only Americans, and it shouldn’t mean only Americans. At the moment, it does mean just that in the eyes of the thugs in power … unless they plan to equal things out by “disappearing” American citizens as well. :puh:
The American vision of justice has been sliding down a steep hillside for about the last half of my life. Recently, it’s taken a nose dive off a cliff without a parachute. Someone better rescue it quickly.
