The Dart … It Goes!

The Dart … it starts! The Dart … it runs! The Dart … its gas gauge functions! The Dart … has four tires that seem to be holding air! The Dart … never had a gas tank leak!

Yes, it’s true. All of my fuel problems were the fault of the fuel pump, which has now been replaced by my wonderful husband. I can’t believe I was driving a rolling gas bomb that was spewing enough gasoline into the engine compartment for it to blow along the drive-train and drip off the back of the car. Color me lucky not to have gone up in a big boom, huh? I’m telling you, someone somewhere is always looking out for me. I must keep that someone very busy.

Now all I have to do tomorrow is top off the fluids, visit a high-power car wash, and then go grocery shopping on my very own!!! I have wheels again! I am mobile! I can go where I want to when I want to! Freedom … the sweet taste of freedom!

Oh, and even cooler than having wheels again? The old Dart has get-up-and-go like it hasn’t had in ages. Something tells me that fuel pump was not functioning 100% for a very long time. I say that not only because it’s never had as much spunk as that engine should have, but also because that car has smelled like gasoline for as long as I can recall … but today, it no longer smells of gasoline. Very interesting, and a little frightening too. That means it was leaking gas even when my mom was driving it regularly. Yipes!

I love my car. I love having a car that works. I can’t wait to waste some gasoline tomorrow just driving to drive (even though technically I hate driving). So when you can go anywhere you want to after not being able to do so for a while, where do you go? I’m thinking a craft store (or two) … or maybe just a drive around the ‘hood. Anywhere, I don’t care!
