“They went through my wallet, they went through my checkbook, they went through all of my bills,” said the irate man, who asked not to be identified. “They dumped my drawers out. They dumped (stuff) everywhere and then they said, ‘We don’t have to clean it up.’ “
Why should the cops have to clean up the mess they made when they ransacked the wrong house looking for a pervert? I mean, it’s not like they screwed up a phone number while getting a search warrant and then showed up and acted like jack asses or anything.
The cop who couldn’t write down the correct phone number for the actual pervert?
Knezovich said he considers it unlikely that Hines will be disciplined.
“I could see it if it was a blatant lack of diligence,” the sheriff said. “But sometimes things like that happen. A number can get transposed.”
Bullshit. Ever hear of checking your work and verifying your facts BEFORE causing a shitstorm in someone’s life? You know, making sure all the phone numbers and addresses are correct on your paperwork? I guess not. It’s not that important. These things just happen, right? Doesn’t matter that it led to the cops busting into an old couples house, tearing the place up and embarrassing them in front of their neighbors, does it? I mean, their so very sorry it happened!
This sort of crap happens all too often. You don’t read about it in the news much, because I’m sure it embarrasses the cops when they bust down the wrong door and find Grandma Annie sitting on the couch instead of a crack dealer … or Grandma and Grandpa instead of an obscene call maker. The least they could possibly do is clean up the mess and apologize publicly, but they don’t even want to do that. I assure you any cops every tear up my house, someone will be straightening it all out again, and it won’t be me. I hope this guy sues the pants off his police department.
