IKEA is Coming!
September 7th, 2006 - 11:56 pm
IKEA, the world’s leading home furnishings retailer, today announced that its future Round Rock store will open at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006.
Furthermore, at the exact same moment, a great roaring whine will begin building in North Austin as Orb tries to convince Lin that furniture shopping can now commence. I’ve been waiting for this news for a while now. I love IKEA. ![]()

I haven’t been to an American version of Ikea but the German ones were umm, interesting. The floors were marked with arrows indicating which direction one walks. Once in a while there would be two arrows giving you a chance to double back to re-examine something. With that being said, DO NOT turn around and go against the arrows. I did and it was not pretty. Not only did the two security guards talk to me (took them a few minutes because they had to obey the arrows as well) but half the crowd yelled at me as well. My German is passable but not that great so it was an experience. They did have a very nice restaurant in the middle of the store though with good schnitzel and spaetzle.
From what I gather, they are all almost identical in format, except maybe for vicious German security guards. LOL! I did, in fact, get lost. I’ve never been good at following directions.
And I’ll admit it, the thing I most liked about IKEA (other than their kitchen cabinest) was the restaurant. Very yummy!
