Such is Life

I’ve been shopping for a swimsuit tonight. Doing so has caused me to have an epiphany concerning the many reasons I am incapable of dressing myself properly. Well, it’s not so much that I don’t dress well enough, it’s that the styles I have been wearing aren’t really the things I would like to be wearing. Why? That’s the epiphany.

Unfortunately, the opening music for The Daily Show just came on, and I completely forgot what the epiphany was. All I can remember is it had something to do with tight blue jeans.

And wouldn’t you know it? The Daily Show is a re-run, so I lost a perfectly good epiphany about my choices in clothing for a re-run.

Such is life.

Try this: Next time you’re clothes shopping, have your hair completely up on your head. You’ll get a lot better sense of proportionality when you can see your neck and shoulders. Do the same at home with your existing wardrobe. Avoid tight clothes; a svelte figure is even more set off by a leisurely fit. Dress age-appropriately; the fact you’re in better shape than your contemporaries will be enhanced. Same goes for hair coloring; dye always looks fake. Ninety percent of women your age would never go to the salon again if in return they could have your body mass index. Play to your strong suit.

(One non-Texan’s opinion: lose the hair, high school’s over).

“I completely forgot what the epiphany was.”

Don’t you just hate when that happens! I know I have solved mind-bending problems and had insights that would profoundly rock the world, if only….

…and most of my best ideas were stolen by the ancients!

Can’t lose the hair. I suggested such to the hubby, and I can’t repeat what he said here as it was foul. Yup, hubby likes the hair. I mostly wear it up when I leave the house anyway. Too hot to have it down all the time.

Oh Kenno, you and I both have probably lost encyclopedias of great ideas to the ether … or in my case to the opening sounds of the Daily Show.
