Eureka, It’s Tuesday!

“You know how when you are working on something and I start babbling it really annoys you?”

“Yes …”

“Is it possible you could extrapolate from that data that your babbling might be bothering me?”

I have a real Love/Hate relationship with sharing an office with Lin. I’m sure he feels the same way, of course. Sitting across the desk from each other, peering over and around our computers to get some eye contact, we have both some of our best times and some of our worst. I’ll admit, it’s usually me driving Lin insane with my talking while he’s trying to do something engineer-like, but there are days, like today, when he makes me stark raving mad … especially when he starts with the “Come here and look at this” comments. It’s usually a boat … or a guitar. I think I have seen every boat and guitar on the planet by now.

I spent the day getting some more stuff onto my computer and doing some more organizing, and then I settled in and started working on a new site design … which means finally getting down to learning how to use the software on the new computer. I was tempted to turn on the old one and fire up Paint Shop Pro, but then I remembered how SLOW that thing is, and how it’s more than likely to crash just as I put the finishing touches on a file I haven’t saved. I decided it was just time to force myself to start using Adobe Photoshop Elements. I will say I like it enough that when they come out with a version for my Intel Mac, I’ll be buying it. There are some aspects of PSP I miss, like vector graphics, but Photoshop Elements isn’t a bad little program … for an Adobe product.

The Endless Sweater was finished drying by mid-afternoon. The neckline is fine, but the armholes are still curling under. It doesn’t actually look bad like that, but I think tomorrow or later tonight I am going to try steaming it a little to see if I can get them to set flat. All in all, I am extremely pleased with how it turned out, and I’ll be proud to wear it even if I never get the armholes to stop curling. It fits like a glove and looks great on me. I can’t say any of the store-bought sweaters are so perfect either, so I’m not going to complain about what may end up being the only flaw on my hand-knit one. I like it, and I think that’s what matters most.

And joy of joys, Lin went and got the Dart’s new registration sticker! It’s always interesting how when the car is perfectly legal to drive, I don’t really want to go anywhere, but as soon as I am waiting for one sticker or another, that’s when I feel the urge to get out of the house. I have been wanting to go to the craft store all day … to buy yarn, naturally … and couldn’t because he didn’t get home with the sticker until it was rather late in the day. Not to mention, when I went out to try to put it on, I nearly burnt myself on the windshield. Guess I’ll have to creep out there early in the morning before the sun gets blazing to put the new one on. I am not kidding about burning myself. That damn glass was HOT!

Now that Lin is going to be out of the house for a few hours again, I’m going to go back to trying to work on a site design … while making dinner: leftover turkey roast, cheese/broccoli rice and the turkey gravy will become a nice stew. Might add something else. Might not. Going to have to make crackers again. This time, I think I’ll try a mix of some different cheeses and see what happens.

Even though Lin was making me crazy, I had a pretty good day today … between sneezes. I didn’t think my allergies could get any worse, but they most certainly have. I guess I will finally have to resort to drugging myself to feel some comfort, but I am going to wait until after I go to the craft store. If I take them before, I’ll never get up off my butt. Allergy medicines always put me into a serious vegetative state. And I can’t take any tonight either, because I am already so sleepy and that new show Eureka is on tonight, and I don’t want to miss it.

Now to go look up the recipe for the crackers. Good thing I posted it on my web site, or I’d have already forgotten how I did it last time. Senility is setting in, I just know it. I can’t remember ANYTHING anymore.
