Though I had planned to sleep all day today, my plan went awry when I woke up at 10 am. I was really awake too. No convincing my body it really wanted to lay around in bed, even though it didn’t really feel like doing anything else either. So my body and I sat on the couch, watched way too much FoodTV, and worked on finishing The Endless Sweater. I am pleased to announce … the back is now finished. All that’s left is to put the front shoulders back on needles and finish them up and crochet the edging on the neckline and armholes. I’m hoping I’ll have enough yarn with the skein I bought the other day to get all that done. I really don’t want to buy one more skein just to do the edging, but I fear that’s going to end up being the case. Oh well, maybe I can make a little purse or headband with the leftover bit. All I really want right now is for The Endless Sweater to come to its conclusion.
No more small gauge sweaters ever. Oh, it’s going to be gorgeous. I know I am going to love wearing it. After having spent nearly a year forcing myself to finish it, I would have rather paid someone whatever they wanted to make it for me. It’s been the most boring knitting project ever. I’m going to push myself to get it done tomorrow. Really … want it … to all … be over.
Sort of glad the weekend is coming. Tomorrow is SciFi Friday, so there will be something to watch on the TV. Saturday we will be dealing with some neighbor-related issues, and that could take all day. Sunday we go to see Mom and take her the camera. Going to be a busy weekend, but once I get through it, there should be some peace and quiet in my life for at least a few weeks. I am desperately looking forward to some peace and quiet. Maybe then I can pick a day and convince my body it does want to lay about in bed snoozing and nothing else.

How about a nice relaxing digitally altered photo of the space between my computers called, appropriately enough, The Space Between. Click the pic for a larger and clearer view.
Would you like to know what I just remembered? Of course you would. I went through all that hell today, and I STILL FORGOT TO BUY CRACKERS. I’m going to go hang myself from the shower rod. Oh, wait … our shower rod won’t hold my weight. It barely holds the weight of a thin plastic shower curtain liner. Dammit.
Breath in. Breath out. Think relaxing thoughts.

Lin’s playing his stupid game. I’d like to go to sleep. The two cannot happen in the same household at the same time. This is making me grumpy.
We both had bad days today, but I suspect on the grand scale of things, Lin’s was probably far more stressful than mine. No, mine was merely completely annoying and aggravating.
I’m going to drink the rest of my cup of Sunny D and attempt to close my eyes and drift off. Tomorrow I plan to get into my stinky car and go to Hobby Lobby again. I have another 40% off coupon, you see, and there’s this straight-edge paper trimmer I can get for a song. Or maybe I’ll get up, make sure Lin has his coffee and gets off to work, and then crawl right back into bed and stay there, with no alarms set, until I wake up. It could be awhile. I feel like I could sleep for at least two days straight.
My nose is sunburnt on top of it all. People laugh at me for wearing jeans and long-sleeved cotton shirts in the middle of a Texas summer. Well if I didn’t, the burn now present on my nose would be all over any exposed skin. I do not take well to sunlight. Yes, wearing so much clothes does make me hot. I’d love to wear skimpy little things outdoors during the summer days. I would also prefer not to be forced to smear SPF 9000 all over my body before leaving the house, and when I get where I am going, the air conditioning is always set to Sub-Artic anyway. I hate freezing to death as much as I hate getting a sunburn.
Since anything I may begin to babble about at this point will result in cursing, sputtering, whining and griping, I do believe NOW is the time for me to chug the last of the Sunny D and do something about getting some sleep.
Tomorrow is going to be a better day. Tomorrow is going to be a better day.

Another desk-clearing link dump over at Links of Note.

I am not going to bother finding a link to the news story on line, but you have all heard about the woman who either a) had a cell phone shoved down her thoat by her angry boyfriend or b) swallowed the phone herself in a drunken fit … haven’t you? If not, go to Google News and do a search. I have no doubt “cell phone” and “swallow” will bring up any number of hits.
I don’t really care which of the two possible explanations turns out to be true. All I want to know is how exactly, whether shoved or not, one swallows a cell phone. I know they make them small not, but not THAT small!
I can’t even think of anything else to say. The mind … it’s boggled almost to the point of no return. I sit here capable of only sputtering … how the hell?!

I don’t have anything good to say today, but you absolutely have to read the most recent Kenno comment! Never before known secrets will be revealed!

Latest time waster? Virtual Villagers: A New Home … and boy IS it a time waster. You know how I do love simulation games. I’m just playing the demo for now, because I’d rather spend my mad money on craft supplies at the moment, and when I do get around to buying my first real game for the Mac, it’s probably going to be either Neverwinter Nights or The Sims. Though for $20, I might have to consider indulging myself and getting Virtual Villagers. It’s pretty darn cute.

After puttering around the house yawning this morning, I decided to take a nap. Well, I did get up at 5 am, and probably only got a few hours of real sleep. I have apparently learned how to turn off my alarm in my sleep without even noticing. I woke up in late afternoon, and the day was wasted. I guess I am going to have to move the alarm far away from the bed to force me to engage the brain before touching the buttons. Still, the sleep felt good. It was such a dreary day anyway, and the only things I had wanted to do today involved spoiling myself with a trip to the craft store and a stop at Walgreens to poke at the multitude of makeup packages. Not like either of those things are all that important.
Yeah, still wanting to start wearing makeup. Still don’t know where to start with it. Maybe if I just wait a little longer, the urge to adorn my face with chemicals will pass.
Don’t have anything much of worth to talk about on the personal level. I slept all day. What could there be to talk about?
Oh, I know … perfect time to tell you about two FireFox plug-ins I have been finding extremely useful!
FoxyTunes allows you to control your media player on any FireFox toolbar. Very cool and compatible with a bunch of different players (both Windows and Apple). The further reintegration of music in to my life continues.
FireFTP is an in-browser FTP plug-in which I am finding ever so handy. Though I do like CyberDuck for heavy duty FTP-ing, when I want to quickly upload some photos or a few small files, this is indespensible. Love it!
I guess that’s it for now. I declared that dinner was at 8 pm, when the new episode of Eureka comes on, so I better get myself into the kitchen and get working. Tonight it’s going to be your standard all American meal: steaks, salad, baked potatoes, corn and cheese biscuits. Yum … can’t wait. I missed lunch due to the long snooze, so you know I’m going to be ready to eat dinner ASAP!

While trying to find out why Stephen Colbert was listed in the closing credits as Dr. Stephen T. Colbert, I ran across this blurb on his Wikipedia page:
Colbert was the commencement speaker for the class of 2006 at Knox College. Colbert also received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts Degree from the college on June 3, 2006. [22] On the June 8, 2006 show his Executive Producer credit changed to Dr. Stephen T. Colbert D.F.A. (in a possible parody of Bill Cosby’s appearance in credits as “Dr. William H. Cosby” after having received an honorary degree) to reflect this.
I have no idea why Mr. Colbert has decided to list himself that way in his credits. Perhaps he thinks it’s cool and funny to have an honorary doctorate. I know I would, and I’d probably put the Dr. before my name sometimes just to be silly. What I don’t like about the above blurb is the hating on Dr. Cosby. Does he has a few honorary doctorates? Yes, he does. He also has an honest to goodness earned-the-hard way Doctorate in Education, which he received in 1977 from the University of Massachusets … and that entitles him to put that Dr. in front of his name any time he pleases. He isn’t just calling himself a “doctor”. He actually IS one.
It just irks me that so many people don’t know Cosby has actually completed a good deal of higher education, more than most people really, and think the only degrees he has are on the honorary variety (and thus “worthless”
.
