Up Early
May 26th, 2006 - 5:57 am
Went to bed early last night like a good girl, so I would be totally awake for the cat’s appointment this morning. I’d intended to sleep until 6 am, but I woke up early and couldn’t go back to sleep. Too nervous to sleep. Good thing the cat is unaware of what’s going on. He’s still snoozing on the end of the desk.
After looking like he was improving all week again, last night the diarrhea started again. There is definitely a pattern to this whole thing. I’m sort of glad I waited that extra week to get him to the vet so I was able to see it. By mid-week, the puking of clear bile starts, and by the end of the week, he’s back to having diarrhea again. I’m betting you that by Monday, he’d be back to eating normally and behaving normally, because that’s what has happened the last two weeks. Nothing changes in his environment or anything during the course of the week either. Same house, same schedule, same foods. It’s really weird, but since it’s been so regular, maybe it will be easier for the vet to know what is wrong.
I’m just so worried, and the vet said yesterday they may want to keep him overnight. While I know rationally it may be necessary for him to stay at the vet’s office, I am having seperation anxiety. For the last 12 years, there has never been a single night when the cat wasn’t at home and laying by us at night. I can only imagine how it’s going to traumatize Fuzza. The whole “putting him a carrier and driving him down the highway” is going to be traumatizing enough for everyone involved. It’s ended up being a good thing that Lin locked his keys in the truck last week and I had to get out on a highway during morning rush hour, because I have to be at the vet’s office at 9 am, which means leaving here around 8:15 am … and that means morning rush hour. I really wish Lin could have taken us, but it just wasn’t possible. I’m just going to have to be an adult and deal with it. The good thing is the highway I will be on is 183, and that was a stretch of road I used to commute on every day to work, so I have an idea of what to expect as far as traffic and insane drivers go. Still … it’s going to suck.
Since I forgot to go get gas last night, I have to go do that now. I’m going to put Lin’s coffee on to brew, and then go grab a few gallons of gas. The last thing I want to have happen is running out of gasoline with the cat in the car with me. That would be a royal nightmare of grand proportions. 8O
