Here’s one of the most ignorant comments I have read recently concerning The Da Vinci Code:
What a JOKE of a book, its has ZERO facts about Christ and should be pulled from print, or labeled properly as NON-FICTION.

Um … yeah … OK. Clearly the problem people so up-in-arms about the book and movie have is they don’t know the definitions of “fiction” and “non-fiction”. You know, it says “A Novel” right on the front cover of the book, and it can only be found in the FICTION section of the bookstore, and rightly so … being a novel and all. Even my mom has jumped on the “but some people might believe it’s true” bandwagon. Yeah, some STUPID people might think a fictional action-adventure-mystery book/movie is true, but then stupid people tend to think lots of stupid things are true … like catching AIDS by hugging someone or getting pregnant at a swimming pool. I prefer to live in a world where what we get to watch, read and do isn’t dictated by what stupid people might think is true.
I am so sick of everyone ranting about this movie. I wasn’t in the least interested in going to see it, and neither was Lin (who avoids all things with religious tones), but now we both feel compelled to shell out some bucks at the theater and for the book as a way to vote on how we feel about it. It’s a damn fictional story, and from what I hear, one that’s reasonably worth reading and/or watching. Even Lin’s brother and mother enjoyed the book, and they are what I would call mega-religious. Amazingly, they didn’t lose their faith or anything … they just enjoyed reading a nice NOVEL. Then they went on believing what they always have. Why is it so damn hard for everyone else to do the same thing?
