Today’s amazing iMac discovery is the ability to control my computer by voice. Being a child of the Star Trek generation, there is something heart-warming about saying the word “computer” and having my computer listen for a command … and then do it.

My gods, this computer rocks!

Though I think I am going to change the keyword. Every time I say “computer” to my computer, I am reminded of a scene from one of the Star Trek movies where Scotty is sitting at a 21st century computer and gets annoyed that it isn’t responding to his voice commands. He’s told to just use the keyboard … “How quaint,” he says. Thinking about that scene makes me laugh, and then my computer doesn’t recognize my command … requiring me to repeat it. This only makes me laugh harder.

I am certain I am driving Lin insane. Perhaps I should work on this when he isn’t at home.

Computer … computer … computer.

I should change the keyword to “God dammit computer” which is what I end up saying about the third time I have had to repeat myself.
