First post from the iMac. I’ve actually been on line for a few hours now. I just grabbed the ethernet cable from my old computer, plugged it into the new one, and wham … without having to answer even one set-up question … I was on line.
First I registered everything. Then I updated all the software. Then I got down to having some fun.
I played with the built-in Isight camera, Photobooth and iPhoto.

I also created an account at the iTunes Music Store and bought a song … Shout, by Tears for Fears, the extended edition.
I watched the first chapter of The Matrix.
I wrote a text file and had my computer read it to me.
I played around with Garageband. Oh my god. It rocks.
I set up my Dashboard and downloaded a few silly and useless widgets … like a “dashboard” dancing hula girl and solitaire games.
I played solitaire.
I installed Firefox. I’m sure Safari is cool, but I love Firefox.
The thing I have learned so far about my iMac? You don’t have to think about anything. It just does what you want it to do with no squabbling. Like they say … it just works. In fact, I found myself getting confused a few times, because I was thinking about how to do something too hard, when all I had to do was click what seemed to be the right button.
Also, I am going to have to totally relearn how to type. This keyboard is great, but it’s so much nicer than what I have been using, it feels weird.
I’ll post some photos of My Precious later, after I figure out how to connect the digital camera. I’m betting it’s going to be as easy as plugging it in. :)
Sometime soon, I should probably eat something and get some sleep, but you know I don’t WANT TO!
Excuse any typos. I don’t have any extensions on Firefox yet, and as tired as I am right now, spelling is not a top priority.
This is going to be one heck of a time here at Just Orb! I can’t wait to see what you make it do! Have a great time and don;t forget to post (and breathe)! :smooch:
It’s just freaking incredible!
I started writing a song this afternoon … a song. I haven’t been able to do that on my old computer for years now, and in one afternoon, I wrote part of a song.
And just wait until I get some decent graohics software on this thing. Then we’ll really see what happend.
