It's simply an idiosyncrasy of our culture that we produce so many true believers. Also, please bear in mind that those preachy types are mostly the idle products of our upper economic class, people who wouldn't last 8 hours on a real job. Those people are just jealous because they have confused the notion of pursuit of happiness with pursuit of power, and it often isn’t panning out, so your type not being team players become their scapegoats.
