Boing Boing Boing

My domain keeps bouncing all over the place. I can’t work on it at all. That’s actually cool. It’s been forcing me not to sit here and keep working on it … which you know I want to do.

Lin got home, we ate dinner … macaroni-n-cheese with sausage. I was not an Iron Chef tonight. Then we watched Star Trek: The Next Generation (both episodes). Now I am totally beat and the Daily Show doesn’t come on for an hour. I don’t think I can stay awake another hour. The Dr Pepper isn’t making a dent in the level of tired I feel. You’d think I only got two hours of sleep last night and then sat at my computer stressing over my web site all day!

I still haven’t heard back from my old host about canceling my account. It’s funny that I was worried about moving my site, because there’s always a lot of down time … funny because many of my old host’s servers are apparently acting up today, and my web site probably would have been up and down most of the day anyway. Ironic isn’t it?

Tomorrow is another day. How very cliche’, but true. I have to drag myself to the grocery store whether I feel like it or not, even if I only get enough stuff to get us through the weekend. By the time I get done with that and a few other household chores, hopefully my web site will have settled into its new host and I can get to work either fixing the problems the Wordpress upgrade (and move) caused on the templates I was using, finish up one of the hundreds of templates I have started and stored on my hard drive, or throw something together that will do until I can actually spend some time working on it. Whatever decision I make, my web site will not be wearing a default, fresh-out-of-the-box template tomorrow … if I can possibly help it. You know that drives me totally insane, don’t you? >:O

I’m going to drag my carcass to the living room and lay it out in a comfortable horizontal position. Then I am going to allow the sheer boredom of watching the show that Lin wants to watch right now wash over me until I pass out into a blissful slumber. I better set the alarm now. Once I fall asleep, I’m sure I’d sleep through anything … even breakfast.

Note: I have been contemplating what to do about OrbiZart. Sure it’s going to be my art site again, and it will likely be like it was a LONG time ago with book reviews, interviews, downloads and all that jazz. Back then there were no such things as Content Management Systems to make life easier. There are now. In fact, I am thinking of using Typo3 and having a glossy, magazine looking web site devoted to art in general and my art in particular. Certainly not updated daily. I think I used to update OrbiZart about once a week. Just, you know, tossing around ideas in my big old vacuum-filled head. No real work is going to get started on OrbiZart until my precious baby, Just Orb, is all fitted out properly. LOL!

Upgrade Already

Since it appears there is a slightly newer version of WP out than the one I just installed, I guess I’ll go ahead and try to upgrade now before I get too much done on the site. Might as well break it now, right?

UPDATE:

Well that was entirely too painless. I’m glad I checked for updates before I started hacking around on the core files.

Ho Hum

Didn’t make it any further outside than my own front porch, but it was nice to sit in the sun a while and forget about my web site. Of course, one of the neighbors, realizing I needed some form of entertainment and distraction had a medical crisis which involved an ambulance and firetruck screaming down the street. They were talking and moving when they wheeled them to the ambulance, so I guess it wasn’t overly horrible. I couldn’t tell who it was, but it was at the house that just got bought a few months ago from Sewing Woman. I kept meaning to go down there and introduce myself … it’s only two doors down … but hadn’t gotten around to it yet. I did wave at them when I drove by the other day, but they didn’t wave back. In fact, the guy sort of sneered at me when he looked at my car. These must be the new Yuppies who are moving in to “reinvigorate” our lowly neighborhood. I can’t wait until they start squawking about wanting sidewalks and proper drainage. I thought it would be a great idea too, since we DO get charged for these things by the utility company even though we don’t have them, but I can tell you right now that you cannot change the minds of middle-aged people who have lived here since birth. As it turns out, I now agree that sidewalks and proper drainage aren’t necessary … though I would like to not be paying for them every month. Do you see how insidious the group think is on my sleepy little street?! They even got to me!

My web site seems to be mostly resolving over here to the new host now, which is cool. I still haven’t heard back from my old host about canceling my account with them. Rest assured, I will be watching the bank statement the next few days to see whether or not they try to charge me for another month. They better not. I have a load of pent up aggression toward my old host, and I would just love an excuse to let them have it.

I’ve about had it with working on my web site today. I mean I have been pretty much sitting here doing nothing but that all day … though I know it certainly doesn’t look like it. I did get some of the background stuff worked out and the users and links imported. I had a few little problems too, as every server handles things a wee bit differently. Those were all sorted out really quickly. I’m pretty happy to be at a good stopping place now where at least what is here is working.

Now I really do have to get up and do something other than sit at the computer or sit in the porch. There’s dishes to be done, laundry to wash, a cat to feed and spoil, and a grocery list to make … not to mention planning something for dinner tonight. The choices are salmon (too much work), sausage (just had sausage a few days ago), or soup and sandwiches (just not hungry for that). Basically, there isn’t anything in the kitchen I want to make for dinner tonight. Doesn’t matter. If I don’t do the dishes, we won’t have any plates to eat off of anyway. Guess I better do the dishes first, huh? Maybe then I can convince Lin that we need to order pizza. I am so hungry for pizza.

Hello world!

This is a little weird. As soon as I set up the add-on domain, I could install WP and access my site using my domain name. Whoever is running A Small Orange … they must be GODS!

Anyway, I am certain it’s going to take a while before anyone else can see this too. I hope so anyway, seeing as there isn’t anything here and it’s all rather boring and default. I just don’t want to work on it anymore right now. There’s a lot of work to do. Ugh.

If for some reason you do happen to be seeing this when you were expecting to see my nice green web site or my Livejournal, please leave a comment and let me know. Thanks!
